Is anyone among you sick?

“Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” James 5:14”

We were talking about strategy and planning, but what happens when life throws you a wrench? This is the absolute perfect time to reflect on this, no? Why does God allow tribulation to happen? Why are we constantly being tested?

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12

The only way to lose is if you quit. But If you face a challenge and win, God will trust you with bigger things. This is how He weeds out the unfit.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it”. Matthew 7:13-14

So if you press on and find ways to continue God’s will despite circumstances, if you keep putting one foot in front of the other in faith, God will protect and provide.

So do not fear, for I am with you;  do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Lastly, remember Steven Covey 4 quadrants that we spoke about last week. Don’t get fooled by urgent but unimportant tasks. If the enemy can’t make you bad it will make you busy. Clarity, focus and perseverance.

And I ask you to join me in prayer so we minimize the impact of this pandemic on our great nation and resume life with minimal scars as soon as possible.

Lord I pray that you pick us up in your hands and shield us from evil, sickness and despair. I pray Lord that you will turn up the love on those who serve you so we can become beacons of your grace and pour your love and calmness on those who forgot about you, calm those who are in anguish and despair and shield our loved ones from sickness and disease. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
