In the beginning was the Word

You remember when someone lashed out harsh words towards you and how that made you feel. Words can make you sad, impatient, angry. But words can also cheer, calm and make you feel love. Just words.

In the Bible there are countless passages that talk about the power of words. There are countless studies about it, yet somehow we forget.

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.5. Proverbs 18:21

I believe the most amazing science experiment about the power of words is the work of Mararu Emoto. Mr. Emoto found out that we can see how water crystallizes differently depending on how you speak to it.

Since then many people did similar experiments, mostly with the same results.

And I’ve seen some debunking the experiment, basically because they didn’t believe in the first place. Think about that.

Professional Athletes use positive  affirmations to overcome doubt and win. Don’t believe it? Check the official USA Volleyball page

In my documentary Zig You Were Born To Win (available FREE on Amazon Prime) I interviewed 3 self made millionaires that all had a similar story of how words affected them. Michael Ray Newman suffers from dyslexia but many years ago this was an unknown condition. He tells us that his first grade teacher told him he “was dumb as a box of rocks”. And from that day on, this is what he believed. Rudy Ruettiger told me his teacher told him he was not smart and that broke his dreams. Dave Ramsey talks specifically about the power of words. How we can build and destroy through words.

It took Michael and Rudy many DECADES to overcome that “curse” and only when they began to use positive words towards their future their life transformed.

Thomas Blackwell has a very interesting book about the subject The Liberty Of Our Language Revealed I highly recommend you reading it.

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Mark 11:23 NKJV

What have you been saying to your mountains? If you speak of defeat, defeated will you be. But if you speak of victory, victorious will you be. And yes, you need to speak to your mountains. There is something in the power of word.

For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. Psalm 33:9

I talked about the power of prayer already on this blog. And I urge you to pray with thanksgiving. Give thanks for the things you want to have or achieve. Talk to God in the past tense. Thank Him for having given you what you want. Believe, be persistent and you will achieve with glory. Don’t let the weeds of doubt pest your vision. Speak the good, the pure and the perfect, and give thanks. Always.

I challenge you to do the water experiment. Speak words of love (and feel it) to a container with water, speak words of hate (and feel it) to another container. Freeze them and inspect how the ice forms. Please share your results here.
